'Mount Diablo' Re-Release and Upcoming Concert

Dear Friends of Kuimba,

There’s something satisfying about a job well done, even after you’ve had to redo the original. I mention this because we are just inches away from finishing up our revision of our EP CD “Mount Diablo.”

Now this isn’t just a re-mix of a few songs so we can make something ‘new.’ In fact, in one case the entire song was re-recorded. That would be the title track “Mount Diablo.” And not only has the song been re-recorded but there is a whole different back-up style and feel to it. In addition the entire album will be re-mastered.

Here’s a rundown of the song changes:

MILKWEED SEED - a few new percussion parts added, editing and a re-mix. Holds together much better!

MOUNT DIABLO - complete re-record and new style of music. Much improved version over the old one. Great feeling to this track!

ROCK CITY RAMBLE – a new lead vocal recorded, piano part added on the chorus, editing and a re-mix. Much more present vocal.

COYOTE – the poem was re-recorded. Big delivery improvement!

MEETING OWL – background noise from crickets/owl track filtered out, compression and new effects on the tenor recorder, and a re-mix. All parts are clearer, smoother and more present. Sounds great!

MOUNTAIN MEADOW – editing and re-mix. The editing improved the musicality of this track and the re-mix smoothed out the tenor recorder with compression and new effects.

This CD will be released this summer ’09 and will be available directly from us (see our website for ordering), and from cdbaby.com and amazon.com as a CD as well as an mp3 digital download (individual tracks can be downloaded also). It (and individual tracks) will also be available as a download from itunes and a variety of other online music stores.

The old versions of these songs are still on our website but will be replaced as soon as the album gets mastered.

Enjoy,
Kris (and Lark)

PS - Oh! We almost forgot to tell you about the new photos that just got uploaded. Check out Lark’s lovely silk dress she had made when we lived in China. Or look for the bamboo flute called the ‘Xiao’ that Kris is playing.

PPS - And don’t forget our concert coming up on June 6th at Natural Comfort in Tsawwassen, BC (Canada). See our calendar on the website for more deatails.

'When The Summertime Comes'

Dear Friend of Kuimba,

We hope you are having a wonderful summer!

'When The Summertime Comes' is Lark's newest song offering. We are helped out on this song by the members of 'Sweet Papa Lowdown.' These special guests are Rick Van Krugel on mandolin, Jeff Shucard on guitar as well as myself on trombone backing up Lark's beautiful vocals. It is a blues without the down and out lyrics. I had a lot of fun and spent a multitude of hours working on it. I am really happy the way it came out. So give it a listen and I hope you enjoy it too. Check it out at this link on our website: http://www.kuimba.com/audio/KUIMBA-When_The_Comes.m3u
or go to the 'Music' section on our site and click the song to play.

By the way, 'When The Summertime Comes' will be on our upcoming album 'Sandpiper's Dream.'

Cheers,

Kris
